River’s Edge Retrievers is a small, personal training program based in Milton, New York, serving the Hudson Valley.
My focus is obedience first — helping Labrador Retrievers become calm, reliable, and easier to live with through structure, consistency, and clear communication between dog and owner.
River’s Edge Retrievers works with a very limited number of dogs so each one receives focused attention.
I offer two main training options.
ONE-ON-ONE OWNER TRAINING
These sessions are for owners who want to be directly involved in their dog’s training.
The goal is not just to work the dog, but to help the owner understand how to communicate clearly, build consistency, and create better habits at home.
This is a good fit for young dogs, dogs that need better manners, and owners who want practical help with obedience in everyday life.
Training is straightforward, personal, and built around developing a dog that is steady, responsive, and manageable at home and in the real world.
30-DAY IN-HOME OBEDIENCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
This program is for owners who want a more immersive training option.
Your dog stays in a home environment and is worked with daily through structure, repetition, and consistent expectations. This is an in-home program, not a kennel-based setup.
The focus is on obedience, manners, reliability, and helping the dog settle into better habits through daily living as well as formal training.
The goal is to build a dog that is calmer, easier to handle, and better prepared to work with its owner after returning home.
Because this is a small personal program, availability is limited. Since training takes place in a home setting and there are household pets on the property, each dog must be evaluated for temperament and overall suitability before being accepted.
A PERSONAL APPROACH
River’s Edge Retrievers is not a large kennel operation. It is a small, personal program built around Labrador Retrievers, with an emphasis on obedience, manners, and practical reliability.
Retriever background is part of who I am, but the foundation comes back to obedience first. A dog that listens, understands expectations, and works with its owner is the kind of dog I value most.
